HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR NEW STAINED GLASS

GLASS IS FRAGILE AND SHOULD BE HANDLED WITH CARE

⊲ Your piece comes ready to hang. For small pieces a nail or a screw works great. For larger pieces we recommend a hook, possibly with an anchor, depending on the weight of the piece. We DO NOT recommend suction cups on the window, unless we specifically send one with the piece, as they are not very secure and could result in falling and breaking your piece. And we cry when our glass falls and breaks.

⊲ We recommend minimal cleaning. Simply dust when needed; wipe clean with a soft, damp cloth. If you want to be extra safe you can use distilled water to avoid hard water spots that tap water can leave on the glass. If your piece is in the kitchen and gets greasy from the air, use a mild dish soap and rinse with running water, don’t submerge. Dry with a soft towel or cloth. Don't use scouring pads, steel wool, or anything that contains ammonia or abrasive cleansers as they can scratch the glass and ruin the lead came and solder which hold the piece together. You especially don’t want to use anything abrasive on pieces with paint or patina (the black or copper coloring on the solder) as it will remove it.

⊲ Over time the metal may oxidize, this is natural. To shine it back up use carnauba car wax. Simply rub some on with a tooth brush or cloth, let it dry a little, and then polish it off with a soft cloth. Do not use car polish!

⊲ Unless otherwise noted in the product description, all our pieces are made with materials that contain lead. However, unless you ingest it (ie don’t lick your new piece), the lead is not toxic to you. As a precaution we recommend keeping the piece away from children (they might drop it anyway) and washing your hands before eating right after handling.
